WASHINGTON, DC — The Free From Fibroids Foundation and the Fibroid Coalition announced its full support for the work being done by U.S. Senators Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) to tackle uterine fibroids. Booker and Capito are leading the Senate companion bill (S. 2444) to H.R. 2007, the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act.
The full text of the legislation can be found here.
The Free From Fibroids Foundation and The Fibroid Coalition believe that women suffering from fibroids must be empowered with the knowledge of all available treatment options because for too long hysterectomy has been the dominant front-line treatment when other non-surgical options exist, like Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE).
Last week, the Free From Fibroids Foundation hosted a livestream event to highlight patient stories and share expert medical advice. Click here to watch.
Dr. Lipman, the founder of the Free From Fibroids Foundation, said, “Passing the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act is an important first step for women battling fibroids. Our goal must be larger than passing a bill; it needs to be empowering every woman with all of the information about all of the treatment options for fibroids. Policymakers and the medical community must work together to ensure women have all the information available so she can make the right treatment decision for her.”
