Founder & Chairman:
John C. Lipman, MD, FSIR

Dr. John Lipman is a board-certified Interventional Radiologist and renowned authority in the non-surgical treatment of uterine fibroids. He received his Masters and Medical degrees from Georgetown. He then completed residency training at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, followed by a fellowship at Yale.

He currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Sharecare: an interactive internet healthcare platform founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Jeff Arnold (the creator of WebMD). He also is on the Expert Advisory Council for Responsum Health for Fibroids and The White Dress Project. He was the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Health Care Hero of the Year, a “Top Docs” in Atlanta from Atlanta magazine, the 2019 Trailblazer Physician of the Year from the Atlanta Medical Association, and the recipient of the 2021 Vanguard Award for Philanthropy from the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Dr. Lipman is the President & CEO of the Atlanta Fibroid Center; a state of the art medical facility that specializes in the nonsurgical treatment of uterine fibroids and has cared for women from throughout the world. He is also an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Morehouse School of Medicine.


Vice Chair: Jan Dees

A 30 year healthcare professional, Jan is the CEO of American Vascular Associates and founded the Company ten years ago with the vision of patient first healthcare in an alternative site of care.

Jan began her career as an RN, and went onto pioneering several successful joint venture healthcare ventures. She currently is on the Board for the Cardiovascular Coalition in Washington DC and is a frequent speaker throughout the country as an expert in Office Based Labs and Peripheral Arterial Disease focusing on early detection, intervention, and treatment.


Treasurer: Mark Garcia, MD

Dr. Garcia is an award-winning vascular and interventional radiologist who received his Masters Degree from the University of Illinois and his Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He brings with him years of experience in publishing academic articles and research, conducting clinical trials and providing quality care to patients.

Dr. Garcia is the Chief Medical Officer of American Vascular Associates. Prior to this Dr. Garcia practiced in both private practice and as an employed physician at Christiana Care Health Services for nearly 20 years.

While there, he was the Chief of Interventional Radiology, the Medical Director of the VIR Fellowship Program, and the Medical Director of both the Center for Comprehensive Venous Health and Christiana Care Center for Heart & Vascular Health Peripheral Vascular Section. He then served as the Chief Medical Officer for Merit Medical Systems before starting his own private practice and, combined with his wife Elaine, opened an OBL. He is also the founder and medical director of Endovascular Consultants, in Wilmington, DE.


Secretary: Paula Gwynn Grant

Paula Gwynn Grant is an Emmy Award-winning television and radio broadcaster and marketing/multimedia professional, and former Miss Black America, who currently serves as Secretary of Communications for The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, after serving for five years as Director of Communications for The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta. She is the media spokesperson and representative of the Cardinal Archbishop.

With her television Emmy Award (plus seven additional nominations) and numerous radio awards, Paula Gwynn Grant has served as public relations counsel for local and national politicians, top medical professionals and doctors, entertainment celebrities and authors. Paula has hosted numerous special television programs for well-known entities such as the Children’s Miracle Network, the WB (Warner Bros. Television now the ‘CW’), UPS, National PBS, and the YMCA of Greater Atlanta.

She has served on many non-profit boards including the Mercy Care Foundation and recently, as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Atlanta-area, Decatur Family YMCA.


At-Large Board Member: Jayne Lipman

For the past 31 years, Jayne has worked in healthcare; primarily in marketing and health education. She is a graduate in Healthcare Administration from Pennsylvania State University.

She has run numerous educational and marketing campaigns in women’s health; primarily for women suffering with uterine fibroids. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia; a private, not-for-profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neuromuscular conditions.
